JRPG giant, Square Enix, announced today they would be able to produce 10,000 more copies of the coveted Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector’s Edition (UCE). Originally slated to produce only 30,000 units, they quickly sold out the day the preorder was made available for the game.
Being late in preordering the game, I found myself at a loss when I could only be added to the wait list and hope Square Enix would come through and ship more units (or hope for internet justice and all the resellers on eBay would have their preorders revoked).
US fans who got on that wait list early enough can expect to receive an email on Monday, May 23 at 9:00 a.m. (crossing my fingers here!) containing a private link that will be valid for 48 hours, according to the announcement on their page.
I’ve personally been waiting for this game since 2006, when it was Final Fantasy Versus XIII, part of their ambitious Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy project.
Still hoping for this preorder to come through, even if I might have to settle for just the game itself without all the goodies.
My pre-order for Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will have to tide me over until September.
Is Final Fantasy XV over-hyped, under-hyped? Is it going to bring Square Enix back to its former days of RPG glory? Write your comments and opinions below.
**Update: 5/28/2016: I did NOT receive an email from Square-Enix to snag a UCE. It has been a very sad week.
